"The days are long, but the years are short." ~ Gretchen Rubin
I think of that quote by Gretchen often. In December, it is always top of mind. No matter how long and arduous some of the days, the years just fly by now. We get so little time on this earth - and yet it's ridiculously hard to remember how important and precious each moment is when we're caught up in the crazy of the day to day.
My theme for December is to reminisce and renew. While I'm ready for the snow to go away, I do love the slightly slower pace that winter months can bring. Even if we have to cling desperately to our snuggly blanket and cup of cocoa, the world (or at least the Northern Hemisphere) seems to take a collective sigh as the weather turns colder and we pull out the heavy coat and gloves. I try to use the snippets of extra time for reflection and thinking about how I want to grow in the near future. I've already started making some lists of potential themes for next year and doing the leg work of looking up their meanings and creating lists of synonyms for them and seeing where the words I'm considering bring up thoughts of books, music, quotes, and more.
I've also started building some new habits for 2026. There is something about this time between November and January when my brain and body seem more susceptible to habit formation. Being aware of this rhythm and openness has let me start some new, healthy habits that I'm trying on for size like a short yoga practice and daily one sentence (or more) journaling.
Are you looking for the opportunity to reflect and renew for 2025 and get set up for 2026? If so, join me in one of four free workshops that are coming up in December. You'll find links to each of them below. If those dates and times don't work for you, I'm running each one twice so feel free to visit my Events page to find the other dates and times.
December 12, 2025 12:00
(Eastern Time (US & Canada))
It's hard to escape the noise of the world that we live in. Just like we need to give our bodies nourishing food and exercise, we also need to give our brains and nervous systems nourishment in the form of content that helps keep us sane and happy.
Join for this free workshop to reflect on your content consumption over the last year and do some planning for what you want more of in your content diet for next year. When you leave the workshop you'll have:
1. Tangible things you can do to tame the social media algorithms
2. A reflection of what you've consumed in the past year
3. An action item or two for what you want to consume next year.
Participants will receive a printable worksheet a few days before the workshop to download and use if you wish. If you don't have a printer or don't want to print, all you'll need to bring is a few thoughts about what you consumed this year and some way to take some notes for yourself.
December 12, 2025 09:00
(Eastern Time (US & Canada))
Join me for a one hour workshop designed to help you choose a theme for 2026 - and if you wish to go deeper to choose monthly or quarterly intentions or themes. Participants will receive a beautiful Intention Setting Guide to download. We'll spend an hour choosing a theme and deciding on ways to keep that theme visible to yourself during the year.

What I Published This Week
I published a TON of client work last week - but nothing that I can actually share yet. I look forward to sharing those with you when the client publishes them after the first of the year.
What's Coming Up?
In addition to the events listed above, I've got regular Obsidian Office Hours and YNAB Office Hours coming up soon. Check those out on the Events Page.
Pentatonix Christmas in the City Tour
Last night, we went to the Pentatonix Christmas in the City Tour at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in downtown Indy (the fieldhouse where the Pacers and Fever play basketball games). Pentatonix is a musical group I love. Their music style doesn't lend itself acoustically to a major fieldhouse like this, but it was a great show and their team did an amazing job of making the sound quality great. Here is their first encore - Hallelujah.
